1 billion masks in the next 180 days

We are working with suppliers in China to get 1 billion (not FDA approved at this time) single use masks that are rated Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) > 95% (commonly referred to as “surgical” masks) delivered to the United States, to help slow the spread of Covid-19.
The opportunity

State and local governments, institutions, organizations and companies could choose to give them to essential workers, which keeps everyone safer and reduces the strain on the healthcare system.

This is a somewhat unusual market—the most effective way to guarantee supply is to pay up front so that factories can buy the equipment and supplies they need, and buying in bulk leads to significant cost savings.

Based on current market dynamics, which are changing daily, our objective is to organize a group with large buying-power to place a very large order upfront and offer it at a price of .32 cents per mask, net of (before) taxes and duties, delivered to Long Beach, CA—much less expensive than what most buyers would get for a smaller order. Delivery to the buyer destination can be arranged. Deliveries would start to arrive in Long Beach 3-4 weeks from when we place the order and continue weekly for 6 months.

If there is more demand than we can supply, the way we will prioritize orders is governments, hospitals, and then private companies.

These single-use BFE masks are not FDA-approved for medical use, but they may be used in a hospital setting, for example, by workers who are not involved in caring for Covid-19 patients.

How it works

Until end-of-day Monday, April 20th, we are asking for “indication of interest.”

If it looks like there’s enough demand to place this order, we will then open an order form.  Approved buyers will sign a contract and submit payment upfront.

If there’s significant demand but for fewer than 1 billion masks, we may choose to proceed anyway at a higher price (of course, any buyer could change their minds at that point).
